Jefferson, MO (January 21, 2026) – A 73-year-old woman was seriously injured on Tuesday afternoon in a two-vehicle accident that took place at the intersection of US-67 and Papin Rd in Jefferson County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The collision occurred at approximately 1:42 p.m. on January 20. Investigators say that a 2015 Honda Civic was stopped at Papin Rd and attempted to cross the southbound lanes of US-67. As the vehicle entered the intersection, it was struck on the driver’s side by a southbound 2017 Toyota Tacoma, which was traveling in the left lane at the time.
The force of the impact caused significant damage to both vehicles, requiring them to be towed from the scene by Pippin Towing. The female driver of the Honda Civic, a resident of De Soto, sustained serious injuries despite wearing a seatbelt. Emergency personnel responded swiftly, and she was airlifted from the scene by ARCH Air Medical Services to Mercy Hospital South for urgent medical care.
The driver of the Toyota Tacoma, a 47-year-old man also from De Soto, was reportedly uninjured. He remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities as the investigation progressed.
Trooper C. L. Kurtzman was identified as the lead investigator, with assistance from Corporal D. A. Crowell. The incident remains under review, and no citations have been issued at this time.
