JOPLIN, Jasper County, MO, Sept. 25, 2026 — Three people were taken to hospitals Wednesday afternoon, September 23, after a car and an SUV collided at East 32nd Street and South Duquesne Road in Joplin, Missouri.
The Joplin Police Department received reports of the two-vehicle injury crash around 1:45 p.m., according to the department. Joplin police, fire crews and EMS responded to the intersection.
All three people transported to area hospitals were reportedly still talking with paramedics at the scene, an indication their injuries did not appear immediately life-threatening, though their conditions have not been released.
Investigators said preliminary information points to an eastbound car turning north that collided with a westbound SUV. Debris was scattered across roughly 200 feet northwest of the intersection, and both vehicles ended up off the road in a deep ditch. A private towing company was called to clear the vehicles and debris. The road reopened to traffic after about 80 minutes.
The crash remains under investigation, and no citations have been publicly announced.
