What Typically Happens After a Residential Fire Is Contained?
After a house fire is brought under control, crews often begin a careful inspection of the structure to check for hidden hot spots. These areas can reignite if not fully addressed, so firefighters may remain on scene for some time.
Damage assessments usually follow, focusing on how much of the home and nearby structures were affected. This can include checking walls, roofs, and support systems for stability and safety.
In many cases, utility services like electricity and gas are shut off until the property is cleared for safe use. Property owners may later work with inspectors to determine next steps for repairs or rebuilding.
