Lampasas, TX (March 3, 2026) – Three people died, and two children were injured in a head-on collision on Saturday night, February 28, on US 190 near County Road 4302 in Lampasas County. The crash occurred around 8:15 p.m.
Investigators said a 2005 Lexus sedan, driven by 35-year-old Raul Jaimes Sanchez of Lampasas, was traveling westbound when it drifted into the center turn lane. The Lexus then crossed into the eastbound lane and collided with a 2024 Lincoln SUV driven by 41-year-old Adela Suarez Villa of Copperas Cove.
Both Villa and a 14-year-old passenger in the Lincoln later died from their injuries. Two other children, a 12-year-old girl and a 9-year-old boy, were treated for non-incapacitating injuries.
Authorities continue to investigate the crash, and more details will be released as soon as they become available. We extend our sincere condolences to the families of the deceased.
Why Head-On Collisions Are Often Fatal
Head-on crashes are among the most dangerous types of collisions because the combined speed of the vehicles increases the impact force. Even moderate-speed collisions can result in serious or fatal injuries.
Roadway factors such as lane drift, passing errors, or distracted driving can lead a vehicle into oncoming traffic. Drivers may have little time to react once a car enters their lane.
Children and passengers in passenger vehicles are especially vulnerable during head-on impacts. Safety devices like seat belts and airbags help, but the sheer force of a direct collision can still cause severe harm.
