Frequently Asked Questions
Are pedestrian crashes more common at night?
Many are, since low light makes it harder for drivers to see people on foot, but plenty happen in daylight too, especially in parking lots, school zones, and other areas with heavy foot traffic.
Who has the right of way at a crosswalk?
Pedestrians generally have the right of way in marked and unmarked crosswalks, but drivers and walkers both need to watch for each other, particularly in busy spots like school campuses and parking areas.
What to Do After a Pedestrian Crash in Laredo, TX
Anyone who witnesses or is involved in a pedestrian crash should first make sure emergency responders are on the way. Getting a full medical evaluation matters even for someone who seems only shaken up, since injuries like bruising, sprains, or head trauma aren't always visible right away. It also helps to write down what was seen or felt as soon as possible, while details are still fresh, and to get the name of the responding department and any report number. In Laredo, that may mean working with school police, city police, or both, depending on where the crash happened.
