Frequently Asked Questions
Does impairment usually play a role in fatal crashes?
Alcohol or drug impairment is a factor in a large share of fatal crashes nationally, but whether it was involved here has not been confirmed by police.
Where do fatal crashes most frequently happen?
Many fatal crashes occur at intersections or where roads cross, where turning and crossing traffic increase the chance of a serious collision.
What makes a crash more likely to be fatal?
Higher speeds, larger vehicle size differences, and the angle of impact all affect how severe a crash turns out to be.
How does speed affect whether people survive a crash?
Higher speeds give drivers less time to react and increase the force of impact, which raises the risk of serious or fatal injury.
