LAS VEGAS, Clark County, Nev., Oct. 27, 2026 — A 72-year-old woman died after a two-vehicle crash Monday night, October 26, at Mountain Vista Street and Rawhide Street. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said the intersection was closed while investigators worked the scene.

The crash happened around 9:10 p.m., according to police. A 2025 Mitsubishi Outlander was turning left from northbound Mountain Vista Street onto westbound Rawhide Street when a 1999 Toyota Solara heading south on Mountain Vista Street struck the front of the Toyota into the passenger's side of the Mitsubishi.

The impact pushed the Mitsubishi southwest into a raised curb at the corner of the intersection, and the vehicle rolled onto its driver's side before coming to rest, according to police. The Toyota stopped in the southbound lanes of Mountain Vista Street.

Medics tried to save the Mitsubishi's passenger, a 72-year-old woman, at the scene, but she was pronounced dead there, police said. Her name has not been released pending notification of family. The drivers of both vehicles suffered moderate injuries and were taken to Sunrise Trauma for treatment, according to the department.

Police said they do not suspect impairment played a role in the crash. The department's Collision Investigation Section continues to investigate. Police noted the death is the 99th traffic fatality recorded in their jurisdiction this year.

We are deeply sorry for the loss suffered by the victim's family.

Why is distracted driving considered so risky? Even a few seconds of looking away from the road means traveling a long distance blind, which can prevent a driver from reacting to a turning vehicle or sudden stop in time.
