How Motorcycle Crashes on Highways Can Occur
Motorcycle crashes on highways often involve collisions with barriers, guardrails, or other fixed objects. At highway speeds, even minor contact with a railing can cause a rider to lose control and be ejected from the motorcycle.
Highway crashes are particularly dangerous because riders have less protection than drivers of enclosed vehicles. Protective gear, including helmets, can reduce the severity of injuries, but impacts with barriers or pavement often result in serious trauma.
Road conditions, speed, and rider experience all play a role in these types of crashes. Emergency responders typically block lanes and secure the scene to provide care and prevent further accidents while the area is cleared.
