Las Vegas, NV (April 29, 2026) – A 30-year-old woman was left with life-threatening injuries after a pickup truck struck her in a crosswalk and fled the scene on Tuesday, April 28, in northwest Las Vegas.

The crash happened just after 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of Lake Mead Blvd and Torrey Pines Dr. The woman was crossing Lake Mead Blvd in a marked crosswalk with the walk signal active. A GMC Sierra pickup traveling southbound on Torrey Pines Dr failed to yield, knocked her to the ground, and ran over her with its left tires.

Emergency units responded and took the woman to a local hospital, where she was admitted with life-threatening injuries. The driver left the scene but was later found and taken into custody.

The driver was identified as 27-year-old Lamberto Nunez. He showed no signs of impairment at the time of his arrest. Nunez was booked on a charge of failing to stop at the scene of an accident involving injury or death and was expected in court Wednesday afternoon.

Authorities continue to investigate the collision, and more details will be released as they become available. We are thinking of the injured woman and her family as she receives medical care.

What Nevada Law Says About Pedestrian Right-of-Way in Las Vegas

Nevada law requires drivers to yield to pedestrians who are legally crossing in a marked crosswalk, particularly when a walk signal is displayed. Failing to do so is a traffic violation, and when it results in injury, it can lead to serious criminal charges. Las Vegas intersections with heavy foot traffic are especially vulnerable to these types of crashes during evening hours when visibility drops.

Hit-and-run incidents involving pedestrians are treated seriously under Nevada law. Drivers who leave the scene of a crash where someone has been hurt face significantly greater legal consequences than those who stay. In Clark County, law enforcement prioritizes locating drivers who flee after striking a pedestrian, and arrests in these cases are common.
