LAUREL, Sussex County, Del., Sept. 18, 2026 — A Maryland woman has died after a pickup truck reportedly ran a stop sign and struck her SUV at Salt Barn Road and Old Stage Road on Tuesday evening, September 15, authorities said.
Delaware State Police said the crash happened around 5:50 p.m. A pickup truck heading west on Salt Barn Road reportedly failed to stop at the intersection and struck the driver's side of an SUV traveling south on Old Stage Road, according to troopers.
The SUV driver, identified by state police as 54-year-old Amy Sier of Mardela Springs, Maryland, died at a hospital, authorities said. The pickup truck driver, a 32-year-old Laurel man, was taken to a hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening.
Troopers said the road was closed for about three hours while the crash was investigated and cleared. The investigation remains open, and no charges have been announced.
Authorities noted the intersection saw a similar crash on Aug. 27, when a pickup truck reportedly failed to stop and struck an SUV, killing that driver. The driver in that earlier crash is now facing vehicular homicide charges, according to police.
