Livingston Co, MO (January 26, 2026) – One man sustained injuries on Sunday afternoon following a two-vehicle collision involving a tractor and a commercial semi-truck along US-36, approximately one mile east of Wheeling.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at around 1:47 p.m. in the eastbound lanes. Authorities say a 2026 Volvo VNR semi-truck was traveling behind a 1981 John Deere 4440 tractor when the driver of the semi attempted to overtake the slower-moving vehicle. During the maneuver, the front right side of the semi collided with the rear left side of the tractor.
The impact forced the tractor off the right side of the highway, where it overturned and came to rest on its driver’s side. The semi-truck remained upright but was left disabled on the shoulder of the roadway. Both vehicles sustained extensive damage and were towed from the scene by Gabrielson’s.
The tractor driver, a 64-year-old man from Meadville, was reportedly not wearing a safety device and suffered injuries. He was transported by private vehicle to Hedrick Medical Center for treatment. The semi-truck’s driver, a 46-year-old man from Saskatchewan, Canada, was uninjured.
Trooper J.D. Bedingfield led the investigation, with assistance from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Department. The incident remains under review as authorities work to determine whether charges or citations will be issued.
We extend our well wishes to the injured individual and hope for a smooth and speedy recovery.
