Frequently Asked Questions
What can drivers do to avoid being involved in a multi-vehicle crash?
Keeping a safe following distance, staying alert for sudden braking ahead, and avoiding distractions behind the wheel all reduce the chance of getting caught up in a chain-reaction collision.
What injuries commonly result from multi-car accidents?
Occupants usually suffer whiplash, head and neck injuries, broken bones, and bruising from impact with the interior of the vehicle. Injury severity depends heavily on speed and the angle of impact.
What usually causes crashes like this one?
Common factors include following too closely, distracted driving, failure to yield, and reduced visibility at night. Investigators typically review all of these before determining a cause.
Does speed make a difference in how serious a crash is?
Yes. Higher speeds give drivers less time to react and increase the force of impact, which raises the likelihood of serious injury even in a short-distance collision.
What to Do After a Car Accident in Londonderry, NH
After any crash, check yourself and others for injuries before moving, if it's safe to do so, and call 911 right away. Even if injuries seem minor, it's worth getting checked by a medical provider, since some injuries like concussions or soft-tissue damage don't show symptoms immediately. Exchange information with other drivers involved, and if police respond, get a copy of the report number for your records. Photographing the scene, vehicle positions, and any visible damage can help later if there are questions about what happened. Give yourself time to recover, both physically and emotionally. Multi-vehicle crashes can be disorienting, and it's normal to feel shaken well after the scene has cleared.
