All 78 students and 22 staff members inside the preschool safely evacuated the building. Officials confirmed that no one inside the school suffered injuries, and all children were later reunited with their families.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. However, Lone Tree police stated that investigators do not believe drugs, alcohol, or a medical emergency contributed to the incident.
Our thoughts are with the injured child, and we hope for a full recovery.
Vehicle-Into-Building Crashes in Colorado
Vehicle crashes into commercial buildings and schools can create especially dangerous situations due to the potential for structural damage, fires, and injuries to occupants. Incidents involving electric vehicles may also require specialized fire response procedures because of battery-related hazards.
Emergency evacuations at schools and childcare facilities are carefully coordinated to ensure the safety of students and staff during incidents involving fire or structural impacts. First responders often work quickly to contain hazards while law enforcement investigates what caused the crash.
