Long Island, NY (February 3, 2026) – A serious accident involving a Long Island Rail Road train and a vehicle left multiple people injured Monday evening at a railroad crossing near the Pinelawn station. The incident occurred at approximately 7:15 p.m. along Little East Neck Rd as a Ronkonkoma-bound passenger train was traveling east from Jamaica.
According to authorities, the train struck a vehicle at the crossing, triggering a fiery collision that drew an immediate emergency response. Several passengers aboard the train reported a variety of injuries following the impact. One adult passenger was treated at the scene, while two others were transported to Good Samaritan University Hospital for further medical evaluation. No injuries were reported among the train crew.
Officials stated that no occupants were found inside the vehicle at the time of the collision, and it remains unclear whether the car had been abandoned on the tracks before the crash. Emergency personnel worked to secure the area and ensure the safety of passengers and responders.
Approximately 40 passengers were evacuated from the train and later provided bus transportation to complete their evening commute. Authorities continue to review the circumstances surrounding the accident.
