LOS ALTOS HILLS, Santa Clara County, Calif., Nov. 6, 2026 — A motorcyclist was hurt on Thursday morning, November 5, in a crash on southbound I-280 near the Page Mill Road off-ramp, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash was reported shortly before 8 a.m. on southbound I-280 just north of Page Mill Road. The motorcycle collided with a gray Volkswagen sedan, and the rider went down on the right shoulder, authorities said. Dispatch logs describe the motorcycle as stuck against the Volkswagen after the crash.
The wreck partially blocked the slow lane of southbound I-280, and at least one other unknown vehicle was reported stopped behind the motorcycle in the same lane. An ambulance was requested for the injured rider. Freeway Service Patrol, which had responded to the scene, later closed out its own incident log, and CHP units remained on scene checking on the ambulance's arrival time.
The extent of the rider's injuries has not been released. The California Highway Patrol has not said what led to the collision, and no cause has been confirmed.
We wish those injured a full recovery.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why do motorcycle crashes tend to cause more serious injuries than crashes involving only cars?
A motorcycle offers no frame or airbags to absorb an impact, so a rider is more exposed to being thrown from the bike or striking the pavement directly, which usually means more severe injuries than in a comparable car crash.
How do left-turning or lane-changing vehicles cause collisions with motorcycles?
A driver turning across a lane or merging may not see an approaching motorcycle because of its narrower profile, leading to a collision as the vehicle crosses the rider's path.
What can drivers do to spot motorcycles more easily on the road?
Checking mirrors and blind spots twice before changing lanes or turning, and allowing extra following distance, gives drivers more time to notice a motorcycle before reacting.
What should a rider do immediately after a motorcycle crash?
If possible, a rider should move to a safe area away from traffic, call for medical help, and wait for law enforcement to arrive and document the scene.
