Why Vehicles Sometimes Leave the Road and Strike Buildings
Crashes involving vehicles striking buildings can happen when a driver loses control or when a vehicle departs the roadway unexpectedly. These incidents may occur because of driver error, sudden steering movements, mechanical issues, or slippery road conditions.
Roadways that pass directly in front of businesses can present additional risks. If a vehicle travels off the road, nearby structures such as storefronts, restaurants, or offices may be in the vehicle’s path.
The severity of these crashes often depends on vehicle speed and the building’s structure. Modern commercial buildings are designed with reinforced materials that may help limit structural damage and protect occupants inside.
