How Parade Float Accidents Can Happen During Large Public Events
Large parades often include floats, walking groups, and vehicles moving slowly through crowded streets. Participants sometimes walk beside floats to distribute items or assist with decorations. This close movement around vehicles can create hazards if someone slips, trips, or gets too close to the wheels.
Floats and towing vehicles also have limited visibility, especially near the sides and rear. Drivers may not always see someone who falls or steps into a blind spot. Even at slow speeds, heavy vehicles can cause serious harm if a person is knocked down.
Event organizers usually set safety guidelines for float operators and participants. These may include keeping a safe distance from moving wheels, using spotters, and limiting the number of people walking directly beside vehicles.
