MADILL, Marshall County, Okla., Oct. 28, 2026 — A Madill man died Wednesday morning, October 28, after falling from the back of a semitrailer at a local manufacturing plant. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol identified the man as 54 year old Jaime Bell.
Troopers said Bell was standing on the bed of a semitrailer that was being used to move pipe toward a forklift at J&I Manufacturing. According to the agency, the truck's driver pulled the vehicle forward, and the motion reportedly caused Bell to lose his balance and fall from the trailer bed.
Bell struck his head on the trailer in the fall and died as a result, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said. No additional details about the sequence of events have been released.
J&I Manufacturing, which makes truck beds and bodies along with steel products for the farming, ranching and oil industries, has not issued a public statement.
The accident remains under investigation. Our condolences go out to the family and friends of the deceased.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the speed or force involved in a fall or collision affect survival? Yes. Even short falls or low speed impacts can cause serious head injury when someone lands on a hard surface, and the outcome often depends on what part of the body absorbs the impact.
How important is fall protection or restraint in situations like this? In workplace settings, harnesses, guardrails and clear procedures for moving vehicles with workers nearby are meant to prevent exactly this kind of fall. Gaps in communication between a driver and a worker on a truck bed can turn a routine task into a fatal one.
What should a family do after a fatal workplace accident? Families can request a copy of the official incident report from the investigating agency, and many also contact the employer or OSHA for information on any workplace safety review tied to the death.
How are fatal workplace accidents like this investigated? Law enforcement typically documents the scene, interviews witnesses and the equipment operator, and determines whether mechanical failure or human error played a role. Workplace safety regulators may conduct a separate review.
What to Do After a Workplace Fall Accident in Madill, OK
Anyone who witnesses or is involved in a workplace fall should call for emergency medical help right away, even if the injury looks minor at first. Head injuries in particular can worsen quickly, so a medical evaluation should happen regardless of how the person seems immediately afterward.
Employers and coworkers should preserve the scene as much as possible and avoid moving equipment until investigators have had a chance to document conditions. Anyone affected should also keep records of medical visits, any time missed from work, and communications with the employer or insurance providers, since those details can matter later. Workers in Madill who have questions about safety procedures on the job can also reach out to state labor or safety offices for guidance.
