Makakilo, HI (January 5, 2026) – A fatal crash involving multiple vehicles and a possible pedestrian occurred on Sunday night along the H1 Freeway near the Kualaka’i Parkway exit, just before Makakilo. The collision happened around 8:00 p.m. and resulted in one person being pronounced dead at the scene, according to emergency officials.
Emergency Medical Services reported that another individual, who may have been on the side of the road at the time of the incident, suffered a severe leg injury. That person was treated on site and transported for further medical care. The full circumstances of the crash, including the sequence of events and the role of the pedestrian, are still under investigation.
Due to the severity of the crash, a section of the H1 Freeway was closed for several hours overnight as law enforcement and emergency teams worked to clear the scene and begin their investigation. Officials have not released the identities of those involved.
