Port Arthur, TX (July 31, 2026) – A 58-year-old man lost his life after a house fire on Dominion Ranch Dr in Port Arthur late on Wednesday night.
Emergency units were called to the home at approximately 10:30 p.m. on July 29, after reports of a residential fire. Upon arrival, crews found heavy smoke and flames coming from a front bedroom. Firefighters rescued a woman from the home after she informed them that another person remained inside.
Authorities later located Brett Anthony Wilson, 58, inside the residence. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His mother was taken to a hospital after being rescued, though the extent of her injuries has not been released. City officials said both occupants had physical limitations that complicated rescue efforts. The home sustained major damage, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
