Durham, NC (September 2, 2026) – A man was killed, and a female passenger was injured early on Tuesday after a Nissan Altima left Garrett Rd and struck a fence and a parked vehicle. The collision happened around 1:58 a.m. in the 4000 block of Garrett Rd.
According to police, the Altima was traveling northbound when it partially left the roadway near Lansbury Dr. The vehicle traveled through a ditch, struck a raised driveway, and crossed it before striking a fence and a parked vehicle.
The driver was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown into the back seat. He was pronounced dead at the site, while the passenger was wearing a seat belt and was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
The investigation into the fatal collision remains ongoing. Our condolences go to the man’s loved ones, and we hope the injured passenger makes a full recovery.
