Phoenix, AZ (August 24, 2026) – A man is in extremely critical condition after being chased into a street and struck by a suspected impaired driver late on Saturday night, August 22. The accident happened around 11 p.m. near 28th and Peoria Avenues in north Phoenix.
The man had reportedly been arguing with a woman before witnesses chased him into the roadway. He was then hit by a car, leaving him with life-threatening injuries. Emergency units took him to a hospital for treatment.
The driver, also a man, initially left the area after the collision. He returned several minutes later, and investigators believe he was impaired when the vehicle hit the pedestrian.
The driver has not been publicly identified. He could face charges after the investigation is completed. Investigators are continuing to work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the wreck.
