Marina, CA (January 29, 2026) – A 70-year-old woman has died following a pedestrian accident that took place Wednesday afternoon in the parking lot of a Walgreens store located at 226 Reservation Rd, according to Marina police.
The crash was reported around 12:45 p.m. when a vehicle traveling through the parking area struck a pedestrian and a parked vehicle. Emergency crews arrived within minutes and rendered medical aid to the victim at the scene. The injured pedestrian, identified by the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office as Renette Baker of Marina, was transported to a nearby hospital where she later died from her injuries.
The driver of the vehicle remained on-site and is fully cooperating with law enforcement during the ongoing investigation. Authorities have stated that neither drugs nor alcohol appear to have been involved in the incident.
Marina police have not released further information regarding the sequence of events or any pending citations. The investigation remains active as officials work to determine how the collision occurred.
