Atlanta, GA (July 9, 2026) – Five people were hurt on Tuesday afternoon, July 7, after a vehicle struck a MARTA bus near James Jackson Parkway NW, prompting emergency units to assist those involved and temporarily disrupt bus service.
The collision happened at about 4 p.m. near Etheridge Drive NW and Hightower Road NW. According to police, officers attempted to stop a suspect vehicle on James Jackson Parkway NW, but it drove away. A short time later, that vehicle became involved in the crash with the MARTA bus.
Ten people were on board the bus when the collision occurred. Five people, including the MARTA bus operator, reported injuries and were taken to the hospital for evaluation and treatment. The remaining passengers were transferred to another MARTA bus so they could continue to their destinations.
The bus was removed from the roadway after the crash. Police have not released information about the extent of the damage to either vehicle or announced what charges, if any, the suspect may face.
