What Drivers in Ohio Should Know About Right-of-Way Laws at Intersections
Intersections are among the most dangerous locations on any road, and failure to yield the right of way is a leading cause of fatal crashes across Ohio. State law requires drivers to obey all traffic signals and yield appropriately when entering or crossing an intersection. When a driver disregards a red light, the risk of a serious or deadly collision increases dramatically, especially when other vehicles are moving at full speed through the crossing.
Speed and reaction time both affect how severe an intersection crash can be. Even at posted speed limits, a vehicle entering against a red light leaves little time for other drivers to brake or steer away. Montgomery County roads see a significant volume of traffic daily, making signal compliance especially critical for everyone’s safety.
