Stockton, CA (September 10, 2026) – A minor-injury crash involving two vehicles was reported Tuesday, September 8, near the Kasson Road overpass above northbound Interstate 5 in Stockton.

The California Highway Patrol initially reported a white work truck and another white truck involved in the collision. One vehicle landed on its side after the crash, while another vehicle came to rest approximately 200 feet off the roadway near Kasson Road and Mancusso Drive.

CHP later classified the incident as a minor-injury traffic collision. A tow truck was requested, and the damaged vehicle was moved to a side road as crews worked to clear the scene. The Freeway Service Patrol subsequently closed its incident.

Our thoughts are with everyone affected by this crash and those who were injured. We wish all victims a full and speedy recovery.

What Should Drivers Know About Crashes Near Freeway Off-Ramps?

Off-ramps and overpasses can create changing traffic conditions as vehicles merge, slow down, or transition between freeway and local roads. Drivers should reduce speed when approaching an exit or ramp and remain alert for vehicles that may be entering or leaving the freeway. Checking mirrors and blind spots before changing lanes can also help prevent conflicts with nearby traffic.

Roadside obstructions can become particularly hazardous when a crash occurs near an interchange. When approaching a collision, you should slow down gradually and watch for stopped vehicles, debris, tow trucks, or emergency crews. Sudden lane changes can create additional risks when other motorists are reacting to the same obstruction.

Make sure to allow extra space when traveling near large vehicles or trucks. Maintaining a safe following distance provides more time to respond if a vehicle suddenly loses control or moves into another lane. Staying focused on the roadway and avoiding distractions can further improve a driver’s ability to react to unexpected situations.
