MONTEREY PARK, Los Angeles County, CA, Sept. 16, 2026 — Multiple vehicles collided Tuesday night, September 15, on eastbound State Route 60 near Atlantic Boulevard in Monterey Park, according to authorities. The crash blocked lanes of traffic and prompted a response from local fire crews.
The collision was reported shortly after 8 p.m. near the interchange east of Atlantic Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol traffic log. Officers initially logged the incident as a crash with unknown injuries before updating it to confirm at least one person needed medical attention.
Authorities said a dark-colored GMC Canyon and two sedans were involved. Reports from the scene indicated both sedans were stopped in the number one lane while the GMC was pulled to the right shoulder. A third vehicle was later found stopped on the shoulder about 150 yards east of the crash site, and CHP requested a unit to contact that driver, according to the log.
Monterey Park Fire Department personnel arrived and at one point asked CHP to help clear the right lane so crews could get through, authorities said. All lanes were briefly stopped as units worked the scene before at least one lane reopened to traffic.
