What Information Is Often Reviewed After a Pedestrian Crash at an Intersection?
Pedestrian crashes at intersections are often reviewed by examining traffic flow, lighting conditions, and signal timing at the time of the incident. Investigators may look at whether the pedestrian was crossing at or near a designated crossing area and how visible they were to approaching drivers.
Roadway layout and vehicle speed are also commonly evaluated, especially in areas with multiple lanes or high traffic volume. These factors can affect how quickly a driver is able to react to a person in the roadway.
Officials may also review witness statements and any available surveillance footage to help reconstruct the sequence of events leading up to the collision.
