What Investigators Review in Moped and Vehicle Intersection Crashes
Crashes involving mopeds and passenger vehicles at intersections are often analyzed for right-of-way, visibility, and timing between traffic movements. Because mopeds are smaller and less visible than cars, investigators often examine whether either driver had an obstructed view.
Speed, lane positioning, and reaction time are also reviewed to understand how the collision occurred. Even low-speed impacts can result in serious injury due to limited physical protection for moped riders.
Investigators may also study roadway markings, lighting conditions, and witness statements to reconstruct the sequence of events. These factors help determine how both vehicles entered the intersection and what led to the impact.
