Frequently Asked Questions

Why is distracted driving so dangerous?

Taking eyes or attention off the road for even a few seconds at highway speed can mean traveling the length of a football field without full awareness of traffic ahead, making it harder to react to sudden slowdowns or hazards like debris in the road.

How do weather and road conditions contribute to crashes?

Debris, loose material, or wet pavement can reduce tire grip and make a vehicle harder to control, especially at freeway speeds. Conditions like scattered sand or gravel on a roadway, as reported in this incident, can catch drivers off guard.

What should I do immediately after a car accident?

Move to a safe location if possible, check for injuries, and call 911. Exchange information with the other driver, take photos of the scene, and wait for law enforcement to arrive and document the crash.
