What Risks Are Common in Motorcycle and Left-Turn Crashes?
Motorcycle crashes involving left-turning vehicles are among the most common types of roadway collisions involving riders. These situations commonly occur when a driver misjudges a motorcycle’s speed or fails to see an approaching rider before turning across traffic.
Motorcycles are smaller than passenger vehicles and can be harder to detect, particularly at busy intersections. Factors such as visibility, traffic volume, weather conditions, and driver attention can all influence how these collisions occur.
Following a serious roadway crash, investigators typically review vehicle positions, roadway markings, witness statements, and any available surveillance or camera footage. They may also examine speed, traffic signals, and sightlines to better understand what happened. These findings help create a clearer picture of the sequence of actions leading up to the collision and can provide valuable information about roadway safety concerns.
