What Factors Are Reviewed After a Motorcycle Lane Collision?
Motorcycle lane collisions are often examined by reviewing how each vehicle was positioned and moving before contact occurred. Investigators may examine lane changes, traffic flow, visibility, and roadway conditions to determine what happened.
Motorcycles have a smaller profile than larger vehicles, which can make their movements more difficult to notice in heavy traffic. At the same time, riders may have less protection in a collision, increasing the risk of serious injury.
Evidence such as vehicle damage, roadway markings, witness accounts, and available video footage can help establish the sequence of movements leading up to a crash. These details may provide a clearer picture of how the vehicles interacted on the roadway.
Drivers and riders sharing multi-lane roads must remain aware of surrounding traffic and allow enough space when changing lanes or adjusting speed.
