Ontario, CA (June 28, 2026) – A motorcycle rider was hurt in a traffic collision involving a white sedan on June 27, on the westbound I-10 east of Vineyard Avenue in Ontario.
According to dispatch information, the motorcycle and the white sedan were involved in a roadway accident around 2:57 p.m. Initial reports indicated the rider had been splitting lanes before the vehicles came into contact. The motorcyclist was reportedly down in the HOV lane immediately after the crash, while later updates stated the rider was up. One westbound lane was blocked as emergency units worked at the scene.
The cause of the collision remains under review as investigators continue gathering information.
We wish the injured rider a full and speedy recovery.
Why Lane-Splitting Crashes Can Be Challenging to Investigate
Motorcycle collisions involving lane splitting usually require investigators to review several factors before determining exactly what happened. They may examine traffic flow, the positions of each vehicle, roadway markings, and statements from witnesses to the crash. Video footage from nearby or dashboard cameras can also help clarify vehicle movements before contact.
Physical evidence, including skid marks, debris patterns, and vehicle damage, may provide additional insight into how the vehicles came together. Medical reports may later confirm the extent of injuries, while roadway and weather conditions are also considered during the review. Because early dispatch information is limited, additional findings often become available only after a more detailed examination of the evidence.
