Caldwell, ID (June 26, 2026) – An 18-year-old motorcyclist was hurt on Thursday evening, June 25, after a two-vehicle accident on U.S. 20/26 near milepost 25. The crash happened around 6:17 p.m. near Smeed Parkway.

Idaho State Police said a 2021 Acura RDX driven by a 44-year-old Caldwell woman was traveling west on U.S. 20/26. A 2019 Honda CBR300, ridden by an 18-year-old Caldwell man, was traveling east.

The Acura was turning left to go south on Smeed Parkway when the vehicles collided at the intersection. The motorcycle rider was wearing a helmet, and the Acura driver was wearing a seatbelt.

The rider was taken by ground ambulance to a local hospital. His injury severity was not released in the first report.

The intersection was blocked for about two hours after the collision. Investigators are still reviewing the cause of the crash.

We hope the injured motorcyclist receives proper care and recovers safely.

How Motorcycle Crashes at Intersections Can Lead to Hospital Care

Motorcycle crashes at intersections can cause serious injuries because riders have little protection around them. A helmet can help reduce the risk of head injury, but it cannot prevent every type of harm.

Left turns and crossing traffic can make intersections harder to navigate. Drivers and riders may be moving in different directions, and a short gap can close quickly when vehicles meet in the same space.

After an intersection accident, investigators may review traffic direction, turn movements, lane position, visibility, and vehicle damage. These details can help show how the vehicles came together and why the roadway was blocked while emergency units worked.

1Seek treatment promptly after being injured in an accident. Your first priority should always be your health. Many providers offer treatment on a lien basis, meaning you can get the care you need now and pay later when your claim is resolved.
2Before speaking with an insurance company, make sure you have the facts. An official police report is the most reliable record of what happened and can help establish liability An experienced attorney can assist you in obtaining this report and using it to protect your interests.
3Consider having your case reviewed by a qualified attorney who can guide you through the next steps. They will safeguard your rights and pursue the compensation you deserve.
