La Plata, MD (July 26, 2026) – A motorcyclist was seriously injured after a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Crain Highway and Mitchell Road in La Plata. The collision happened around 9:00 a.m. on Friday, July 24.
Emergency units responded after multiple 911 callers reported a serious crash involving a motorcyclist who was lying in the roadway. Responders found an adult male with life-threatening injuries after arriving at the scene. The 20-year-old motorcyclist was taken by helicopter to MedStar Washington Hospital Center with life-threatening injuries.
A 74-year-old man was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries. Both directions of Crain Highway near Rosewick Road and Mitchell Road were closed while crews handled the scene and the crash investigation.
