Why Motorcycle Crashes Often Result in Serious Injuries
Motorcycle crashes frequently lead to more severe injuries than collisions involving only passenger vehicles because riders have less protection during an impact. Even when helmets and other safety gear are used, motorcyclists remain vulnerable to being thrown from their bikes or striking other objects.
Intersections and busy suburban roadways can present additional risks due to turning vehicles, lane changes, and varying traffic speeds. Safety experts often note that visibility plays a major role in motorcycle safety, as riders can be harder for other motorists to see. Maintaining awareness of surrounding traffic and allowing adequate space between vehicles can help reduce the likelihood of serious collisions.
