El Monte, CA (September 10, 2026) – A motorcyclist suffered broken legs after a motorcycle crash Tuesday, September 8, on westbound Interstate 10 near Peck Road in El Monte.

The California Highway Patrol responded to the incident around 8:15 a.m. The motorcycle was down in the HOV lane after colliding with an unknown vehicle. A later update indicated the motorcycle was involved in a collision with a white Volvo, while the rider was found lying in the HOV lane.

The rider was reported to have broken legs and was awaiting assistance from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office. The incident was later cleared, and the CHP requested a tow truck to remove the motorcycle.

Our thoughts are with the injured motorcyclist and their loved ones. We wish the rider a full and speedy recovery.

What Should Motorcyclists Know About Highway Lane Positioning?

Motorcycles can be harder for drivers to notice because of their smaller size and narrower profile. Riders should choose lane positions that improve their visibility to surrounding traffic and avoid lingering in another vehicle’s blind spot. Checking traffic conditions frequently can help a motorcyclist anticipate sudden lane changes or merging vehicles.

Highway traffic can also change quickly, particularly during busy commuting hours. Make sure to maintain enough following distance to allow time to brake when traffic slows or stops unexpectedly. Keeping a steady speed and avoiding abrupt maneuvers can make it easier to respond to changing conditions.

Protective equipment is another important part of motorcycle safety. A properly fitted helmet, sturdy riding gear, gloves, and appropriate footwear can provide protection during a crash. You should also regularly check tires, brakes, lights, and other equipment before entering high-speed traffic.

1Seek treatment promptly after being injured in an accident. Your first priority should always be your health. Many providers offer treatment on a lien basis, meaning you can get the care you need now and pay later when your claim is resolved.
2Before speaking with an insurance company, make sure you have the facts. An official police report is the most reliable record of what happened and can help establish liability An experienced attorney can assist you in obtaining this report and using it to protect your interests.
3Consider having your case reviewed by a qualified attorney who can guide you through the next steps. They will safeguard your rights and pursue the compensation you deserve.

Focus on your recovery and
