Motorcycle Fatalities Are a Constant Roadway Safety Concern
Motorcyclists face unique risks on roadways because they lack the protective structure found in passenger vehicles. Even when riders wear protective equipment, collisions involving larger vehicles can result in severe or fatal injuries.
Investigators examining fatal motorcycle crashes typically review vehicle positions, roadway conditions, witness statements, visibility factors, and physical evidence from the scene. In some cases, crash reconstruction specialists assist authorities in determining how the collision occurred.
Safety officials continue to encourage both motorists and motorcyclists to remain alert, maintain safe following distances, and exercise caution at intersections and roadway crossings where many serious crashes occur.
