Why Intersections Are Common Locations for Motorcycle Collisions
Intersections are among the most common places for motorcycle collisions because they require drivers to judge the speed and distance of approaching traffic. Motorcycles can be harder to detect than larger vehicles, particularly during turning maneuvers or when visibility is limited.
Investigators often review right-of-way, vehicle movements, and sight lines when examining these crashes. Damage patterns, roadway markings, and witness accounts can help establish how each vehicle entered the intersection. Medical findings and vehicle positions also provide information that may help understand the sequence of events leading to a serious or fatal outcome.
