Auburn, ME (August 19, 2026) – A motorcyclist died on Wednesday morning, August 19, in a collision involving a sport utility vehicle on Washington Street. The crash occurred at approximately 6:39 a.m.
Preliminary information indicates that a 2022 Volvo sport utility vehicle and a 2025 Kawasaki motorcycle were both traveling southbound on Washington Street when they collided. The rider was ejected and came to rest near a guardrail, while the sport utility vehicle left the roadway and stopped in a wooded area.
The motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene. The sport utility vehicle driver was not injured.
Southbound Washington Street was temporarily closed for traffic control and later reopened.
Investigators are conducting a reconstruction, and the circumstances remain under review. We extend our sincere condolences to the motorcyclist’s family and loved ones.
