Raynham, MA (August 25, 2026) – A 37-year-old motorcyclist died after a crash involving a pickup truck on Sunday evening, August 23, on Route 138 at King Philip Street. The collision happened at approximately 7:45 p.m.
The rider was taken to Morton Hospital before being flown to Rhode Island Hospital for additional treatment. He later died from his injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. We extend our sincere condolences to the motorcyclist’s family and loved ones.
Why Motorcyclists Face Greater Risks in Crashes With Larger Vehicles
Motorcyclists have very little physical protection compared with people inside pickup trucks. A collision can expose the rider directly to the force of the vehicle impact.
The rider may also be thrown from the motorcycle and strike the pavement, another vehicle, or nearby objects. Head, chest, spinal, and internal injuries can become especially severe when more than one impact happens.
Travel speed, impact angle, protective gear, vehicle size, and the rider’s path after contact can all influence injury severity. Even rapid hospital and air medical care may not be enough to overcome the most serious trauma after a high-force motorcycle crash.
