Why Motorcycle Collisions Often Result in Severe Outcomes
Motorcycle crashes frequently lead to serious or fatal injuries because riders have far less physical protection than occupants of passenger vehicles. Even when safety equipment is used, the forces involved in a collision can result in significant trauma.
Investigators commonly review vehicle movements, lane changes, visibility, roadway design, and traffic conditions when examining these crashes. In collisions involving motorcycles and utility vehicles, understanding each vehicle’s path of travel is often key to determining how the collision occurred. Physical evidence, witness statements, and vehicle damage patterns can help establish the sequence of events and provide a clearer picture of the factors that contributed to the crash.
