Everett, WA (August 6, 2026) – A motorcyclist lost their life in a six-vehicle collision on Tuesday, August 4, along southbound Interstate 5 near Everett Mall Way in Everett.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the crash occurred near milepost 189 when a motorcycle traveling southbound in Lane 3 struck five vehicles before colliding with a sixth vehicle in the HOV lane. The motorcycle and the sixth vehicle came to rest on the left shoulder, while the remaining vehicles stopped in the HOV lane and Lane 3.
The motorcycle rider was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities said no other injuries were reported. The collision involved one motorcycle and five passenger vehicles. Investigators identified speed as the primary cause of the crash, although it has not yet been determined whether drugs or alcohol played a role. The fatal collision closed multiple southbound lanes for several hours as troopers investigated and cleared the scene.
