What Makes Highway Motorcycle Accidents Hard to Clear?
Motorcycle crashes on interstates can cause serious harm because riders have little protection around them. Unlike people inside cars, riders do not have airbags, seatbelts, or a vehicle frame to absorb force.
Highway speeds can also make injuries worse. Even a brief contact between a motorcycle and another vehicle can cause a rider to fall, slide, or be thrown into nearby lanes.
Closures may last several hours after a serious roadway accident. Crews may need time to check for injuries, remove damaged vehicles, and document the crash site. Investigators usually review lane position, vehicle movement, speed, and witness statements before more details are confirmed.
