Oakland, CA (June 10, 2026) – A multi-vehicle collision was reported early on Tuesday morning, June 9, on eastbound Interstate 580 near the 35th Avenue off-ramp. The wreck was first reported around 5:08 a.m.
At least three vehicles were involved, including a gray Lexus sedan and a white Ford Explorer; the Lexus came to rest on its roof, blocking middle lanes of the freeway, and the Ford Explorer sustained major damage and was also disabled on the roadway.
One person was taken to Highland Hospital with unknown injuries, and a person in a Honda HR-V was also noted as having been helped out of their vehicle at the scene. It was not immediately clear how many others were in the vehicles at the time of the collision.
Tow trucks were called to clear the damaged vehicles, and the roadway remained partially blocked during the cleanup. No further details about those involved in the accident were available at the time of this report. The cause of the crash is still being determined by investigators.
