What Information Is Reviewed After a Multi-Vehicle Crash?

A multi-vehicle crash can involve several sources of information as the circumstances are reviewed. Investigators may examine vehicle damage, roadway conditions, traffic patterns, and photographs taken after the collision. Statements from drivers and witnesses can also help establish what happened before the vehicles came together.

Medical records may provide additional details when people are taken to hospitals after a serious wreck. The type and location of vehicle damage can also help show how the vehicles moved during the collision. Commercial trucks may receive additional attention because their size, cargo, and braking systems can affect how a roadway is cleared. These factors can help create a clearer picture of a multi-vehicle accident as more information becomes available.
