Milton, PA (July 29, 2026) – Multiple people were seriously hurt in a seven-vehicle crash that shut down a stretch of Interstate 80 in Union County on Monday afternoon.
The collision occurred around 4:30 p.m. on I-80 West near mile marker 202, close to Milton. According to state police, seven vehicles were involved, and several people were taken to area hospitals for treatment of serious injuries.
The crash forced the closure of both westbound lanes between Exit 212B for Interstate 180 in Northumberland County and Exit 178 for Route 220 in Clinton County. A detour directed motorists onto Interstate 180 westbound and Route 220 southbound while crews worked in the area.
By about 9:15 p.m., traffic congestion had been cleared, but the interstate remained closed so crews could remove a tractor-trailer and the other vehicles involved. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
