New Market, TN (January 10, 2026) – A severe crash in Jefferson County left one person dead and others injured on Friday evening. The collision occurred at the intersection of McGuire Rd and Mutton Hollow Rd in the New Market area, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
A serious wreck at the rural intersection prompted a large-scale emergency response. At least one individual was pronounced dead at the scene, while others sustained injuries. The exact number of injured individuals and the extent of their injuries have not yet been confirmed by authorities.
McGuire Rd was closed in both directions for several hours to allow first responders and crash investigators to work safely. The roadway was reopened around 6:30 p.m., according to a statement from JCSO.
