Newton, MO (January 11, 2026) – A rear-end collision on Route M in Newtonia on Friday afternoon left one woman injured and caused significant vehicle damage, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at approximately 4:13 p.m., when a southbound 2016 Honda Accord struck the rear of a 2025 Chevrolet Trax that was stopped at a stop sign. The impact caused extensive damage to the Honda, which was towed from the scene by Riedeger Towing. The Chevrolet sustained minor damage and was able to be driven away.
The driver of the Honda, a 24-year-old woman from Springfield, MO, was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. She suffered injuries and was transported to Mercy Hospital in Cassville, MO, for treatment. The driver of the Trax, a 40-year-old woman from Leominster, MA, was also properly restrained and did not report any injuries.
Trooper E. LeBlanc conducted the investigation, assisted by Trooper Z. Moore. The cause of the crash was attributed to the Honda failing to stop in time and rear-ending the Trax at the intersection.
