The crash was reported around 12:49 p.m., when a white SUV reportedly ran a red light and struck a gray sedan that was making an eastbound turn through the intersection, the CHP said. The vehicles came to rest blocking the intersection, creating a traffic hazard for other drivers in the area.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do weather and road conditions affect crash risk at intersections?
Wet pavement, glare, and poor visibility can all make it harder for drivers to judge gaps in traffic or stop in time at a signal, raising the odds of an intersection crash even when a light is working normally.
Where do most car accidents happen?
A large share of crashes occur at or near intersections, where turning movements, cross traffic, and red-light violations create more opportunities for vehicles to collide.
What to Do After an Intersection Crash in North Highlands, CA
If you're involved in an intersection crash, start by getting yourself and any passengers to safety and calling for medical help if needed. Even if you feel fine, some injuries from a side-impact or turning collision don't show symptoms right away, so a prompt medical checkup is worth doing. Make sure to get the names and contact information of everyone involved, along with any witnesses nearby. File a report with police if one isn't already being made at the scene, and keep copies of any paperwork, photos, or medical records tied to the crash for your own records.
